We are commitment to best practices in infant nutrition
Healthy eating in childhood and adolescence is important for proper growth and development and to prevent various health conditions. Dietary Guidelines for Americans, recommend that people aged 2 years or older follow a healthy eating pattern that includes the following:
These guidelines also recommend that individuals limit calories from solid fats (major sources of saturated and trans fatty acids) and added sugars, and reduce sodium intake.
Our menu is always posted in the facility. It consist of three daily meals: breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack (children who arrive before 7am are provided with an early snack as well).
Whole milk is offered to children 2 years and younger and 2% milk to older children. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends starting solid foods around six months of age, depending on when your baby is ready and when the pediatrician indicates. A variety of fruit and vegetable baby food is offered for the program as well as snacks like puffs, lil' crunchies, yoggies, teethers, etc.
The portions for our meals are based on USDA My Plate. "A healthy eating routine is important at every stage of life and can have positive effects that add up over time. It’s important to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, protein foods, and dairy and fortified soy alternatives. When deciding what to eat or drink, choose options that are full of nutrients. Make every bite count."
Good nutrition today means a stronger tomorrow!
The meals served in our program meet the nutrition requirements established by USDA's Child and Adult Care Food Program.
